REAL WEDDINGS
ZAHRA & CHRIS

How did you two meet?

We met at university (SOAS) in London.

What was the best moment of your big day?

Walking into the room for the ceremony and seeing all of my favourite people look back at me- it was overwhelming and beautiful.

Your wedding in one word.

Bright.

Tell us about the dress.

I always knew that I wanted to incorporate some African fabric into my dress as I wanted it to reflect both sides of my heritage, Mauritanian and English. I found some great bridal designers based in London, House of Mooshki, and they helped turn my idea into reality. The blue in the fabric complemented my father's boubou perfectly and I loved the pearls in it- it tied in with the fact that we got married by the sea.

Why did you choose Vlisco?

Because it's the best. I first discovered Vlisco in Gabon while browsing fabrics and I love the range of designs and quality!

What song played for the first dance?

My Girl by Otis Redding.

Who caught the bouquet?

Our lovely friend Pauline got the bouquet the next day on the beach.

Did you go on honeymoon?

We went away to Portugal before the wedding to relax and spend some time together just the two of us before it all got crazy and hectic! After the wedding, we kept it local in England and spent a few days by the coast in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.
